When to go to Kathmandu?
Kathmandu fills its valley with woodcarving, incense and traffic in roughly equal measure. Durbar Square packs pagoda roofs and carved courtyards into a compact grid, the white dome of Bodnath draws a slow clockwise current of pilgrims, and the monkeys of Swayambhunath patrol the steps to the hilltop. Along the river at Pashupatinath, marigolds and butter lamps drift past the ghats.
