When to go to Sapporo?
Every February, Sapporo builds a city of ice: Odori Park fills with snow sculptures the height of buildings for the Yuki Matsuri, and the crowds turn up in coats and mittens. The rest of the year the park is a green corridor through the grid, the clock tower marks the pioneer era in white timber, and the ropeway up Mount Moiwa delivers the night view over the city.
