When to go to Mendoza?
Vines run right up to the foot of the Andes here, and Malbec is what they are for. The bodegas of Maipú and Luján de Cuyo pour it a short drive from Mendoza, usually with a long lunch attached. When the tasting is done the cordillera takes over, with Aconcagua within a day's reach and Parque General San Martín keeping the shade in town.
