When to go to Galle?
Inside its ramparts, Galle Fort is a grid of lime-washed villas, verandas and small hotels where the Indian Ocean is never more than a few streets away. At dusk the walls belong to cricket games and courting couples, and the circuit past the lighthouse and the Dutch Reformed Church is the walk everyone takes. The beaches at Unawatuna and Mirissa are the obvious next stop.
